Eleuthero is considered antistress, antiulcer, anticancer, antioxidant, inflammatory, neuroprotective, cardioprotective stimulant, adaptogen, immunomodulator and a tonic. It has been found to increase ability to withstand adverse conditions (such as heat, noise, motion and increased workload), increase athletic performance and mental alertness. It's been used to treat impotence, arthritis, bronchitis, insomnia, thyroid disorders and interestingly, it has been shown to be effective in treating heart structure in myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias and other heart diseases.
