Eleuthero, also known as Siberian Ginseng, has a long history of use in both China and Russia for its medicinal actions. Used to increase energy while also calming the nerves, its popularity is no surprise.
Eleuthero has been found to increase ability to withstand adverse conditions (such as heat, noise, motion and increased workload), increase athletic performance and mental alertness. It's been used to treat impotence, arthritis, bronchitis, insomnia, and interestingly, it has been shown to be effective in treating heart structure in myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias and other heart diseases.
It has also been found to regulate the glands, especially the thyroid, working on both hyper- and hypo conditions.
