Let's also talk about parasites!
A parasite is any organism that lives off the host, to the detriment of the host. This includes worms, flukes, bacteria and fungus. Parasites are not just limited to tape worms! They include fungal overgrowth including candida, (SIFO) and bacteria (SIBO) among so many more.
When our bodies are dealing with parasites, they can become both depleted and inflamed. And a body depleted and inflamed has a much higher chance of succumbing to not only infection but to potential pharmaceutical harms as well.
Parasites can lead to fatigue, digestive issues, eczema, psoriasis, aches and pains, bloating, headaches, cramping and more.
A Nobel peace prize award winning medication, Ivermectin, is one the most prescribed pharmaceuticals for tropical infections, parasites and more. And while it was admonished by the FDA for use in COVID-19 and smeared as a veterinarian medication only, it has since been shown to provide not only effective treatment for current infection of COVID-19 but also prophylactically. A great read on this is The War on Ivermectin by Dr. Pierre Kory
While Ivermectin was sourced from bacteria in the soil, some may prefer an herbal alternative.
Wormwood or Artemisia, has been traditionally used against intestinal parasites and other parasite related infections for centuries. It is also included in the WHO’s essential medicines as an antituberculosis medicine (fighting bacteria affecting the lungs). It is is deworming, anti-parasitic, antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-malarial, antiviral.
Wormwood, as its name states, kills intestinal parasites and other parasites that can lower immunity and lead to inflammation in the body.
A parasite cleanse is a whole thing, so don't jump in without a little prep work and information. Connect with me or someone else for ideas.
I like to combine Wormwood with some of the herbs listed above including Mugwort and Clove along with a few others below.
Make sure you use a binder when cleansing. Parasites have a role to play in our health; they like to mop up toxins in our gut, which is great, but they sometimes get out of control. When we kill them off, they tend to release all the toxins they've recently absorbed which can lead to us feeling very ill (nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, body aches etc.), so taking binders in the form of soluble fibre, clays and charcoals is very important.
