Poplars, also known as Cottonwood trees, have long been used in healing the skin and easing tension. The sticky resin from the bark and buds carry a strong aroma and has been harvested for perfumes along side topical treatments commonly known as Balm of Gilead.

"The ancient Sumerians and Egyptians used poplar medicine for relieving pain, fever and inflammation. In the middle ages Hippocrates, Galen, and Hildegard von Bingen—all great thinkers and writers contributing to what would eventually be modern medicine—also used this medicine as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain reliever)." ~ Seraphina Capranos

We gathered our Poplar Buds from fallen branches on a beautiful 300 acre nature reserve along with resin from giant White Pines growing at edge of our local, wild meadows.

Poplar Buds are warming and anti-inflammatory. They are anti-microbial and therefore are used to treat a manner of wounds and skin conditions. It is hepatic (supports the liver) and febrifuge (reduces a fever).

Pine Resin is anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and deeply healing to the skin and body. This is a wonderful natural 'bandaid' of sorts and can be chewed to boost immune response.
