I can't help but bring home Fire Cider from other makers when I come across them. Trying their blends, their pungency, their spice or sweetness. Some are true the name and are full of bite, leaving me shuttering while others are pleasantly tart and sweet while warming the body from the inside out.
‘Fire Cider’ was first crafted and named by Rosemary Gladstar in the 80's during a workshop. They combined several powerfully antiviral and flavourful herbs with the intention of stimulating the immune system... and Fire Cider was born! Since then, the formula has grown with each hand who crafts it but the base remains fairly consistent... horseradish, garlic, onion, ginger and cayenne infused in honey and apple cider vinegar. Some add orange or lemon while others add cinnamon and clove or rosemary and sage.
This blend is less spicy with the addition of fresh squeezed orange and juiced pomegranate.
Onion, Garlic, Horseradish, Ginger, Hibiscus, Turmeric, Pomegranate, Orange (juice and peel), Sumac and Cayenne. All infused in Organic, Unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar and Raw local honey. These herbs are extremely anti-viral and aid in digestion and inflammation.
*Some of these herbs are considered immune stimulants and therefore should be avoided if autoimmune conditions are present. Avoid if pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if on medications.
This FIRE CIDER can be taken at the first sign of a cold or flu at 1/2tsp-1tbsp 3x/day.
